A Manner Worthy of the Gospel
“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel”. -Philippians 1:27
Paul always had a positive outlook on how to honor God no matter what the circumstances – from being beaten, jailed and poor or healthy, free and rich. He walked in all areas of life and knew how to be thankful, content and honoring to God in all areas or circumstances of life. We find joy in just that: being content and honoring to God.
We must be anchors, firmly planted and rooted in Christ. If not, then when battles or bad circumstances come, we easily fall, stumble, or compromise. Right living and conduct comes from correct beliefs and truths. Wrong living comes from believing lies and compromising to the temptation of sin. Where do you see yourself compromising? Are you living a life that reflects the gospel?
As you think of those areas, remember we are doing this together – standing firm in the unity of one Spirit and striving to be a righteous and holy Church. We can’t do it alone, we must have the community of believers to spur us on, encourage and exhort us. So when you put your finger on some areas that may be easy to compromise, go to a fellow believer and have them hold you accountable, lift you up in prayer and spur you on for a life that is worthy of the gospel.
